The psychology department at Salem State University invites applications for a full-time, temporary position specializing in industrial/organizational position beginning in Fall 2023. We are looking for an exemplary teacher-scholar with an active program of research in industrial and organizational psychology. The successful candidate will serve our undergraduate and our graduate students in the MS-IO program, which is one of three robust graduate programs in the department. The MS-IO program is designed per SIOP’s training guidelines and follows the scientist-practitioner paradigm. The specific area of research in IO psychology is open.

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

• Teaching expectations: Teaching assignments may include (but are not limited to) courses in general psychology, research methods & statistics, I/O psychology at the undergraduate level; courses in organizational psychology, psychometrics, statistics (R preferred over SPSS), training & development, research methods at the graduate level.
• Research expectations: An ideal colleague is one who actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals and/or shows exemplary scholarly potential (e.g., ABD candidates with strong pipeline of programmatic research). A strong record of presenting research at peer-reviewed conferences is expected (e.g., SIOP, SHRM, AOM).
• Administrative and mentoring expectations: These will include advising, internship supervision, and research supervision at both undergraduate and graduate level. Prior applied experience in industry settings and/or deep professional network is beneficial.

Required Qualifications:

A doctorate in industrial/organizational psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution (ABD considered if degree will be conferred by September 2023); experienced and committed teacher, researcher who is eager to guide student research, strong advisor and mentor who is proficient at working with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leveraging diverse modalities including in-class, distance learning (synchronous modalities and hy-flex modalities that combine in-person and distance learning) at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels. We seek a true scientist-practitioner who can (a) inspire and support our students in their scholarly endeavors, (b) develop and manage internship placements in strategic human resources and/or organizational development, and (c) who is excited about leading the MS-IO program collaboratively/on a rotational basis with the current coordinator.
